The "Red Devil" Squadron insignia of the 555th Bomb Squadron (M) of the 386th
B.G. (Bombardment Group)
The shells and ammunition have all been properly de-activated.
The nail was the aircraft armorer and gunner's chief and only tool used to
disassemble, repair, and reassemble his cal. 50 machine guns.
The triangle bowl patch was the air force man's reward showing he had
successfully completed aircraft armament school.
The 9th Air Force shoulder patch was our branch of the service.
The round emblem wings signified an airman was a ground crew member of an air
force combat unit.
The "bullet" wings signified an airman was a qualified gunner on a combat air
crew.
